Home office trend is booming

Today, more than one-quarter of American households have a home office, according to The Charlotte Observer. As businesses become more in tune with the needs of professionals in the digital age, employers are adapting to workers' desire to work from home.

Being able to work from home gives employees the flexibility to incorporate work into their personal lives and vice versa. Workers can alter their schedules more easily and often get even more done if they prefer working from the comfort of their home than from an office. In addition, companies that embrace technology no longer need to worry about losing strong talent if employees move away.

In 2010, 13.4 million Americans were using a part of their home for a business purpose, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, as quoted by The Charlotte Observer. As more people home-based workers, they should be aware of the factors that can contribute to healthy productivity.
